Awards Nomination

Jackie and Chris are off to Soho House today with Fundraising Manager Megan Cooper for the awards ceremony for the Lord Mayors Community volunteer award.
Her service over more years than I can remember is amazing so recognition outside the RNLI would be wonderful.

UPDATE

Here’s a quote from Community Fundraising Manager Megan Cooper

What a fantastic way to end Volunteers Week! Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the Birmingham Voluntary Service Council (BVSC) Volunteer Awards with our very own Jacky Clifford who was shortlisted for an award. It was delightful to see so many inspiring volunteers and the diversity of charities and individuals involved. I’m so pleased that Jacky got the recognition she deserves and the RNLI had the opportunity to be part of this wider celebration.

Finally, I wanted to say thank you to you all… to our current supporters and volunteers, for all your continued support no matter how big or small. Thank you for everything that you do. You’re awesome.”

Jacky Clifford’s award presentation

News Cutting - Jacky Clifford

Newspaper article celebrating Jacky Cliffords Gold Award

I’ve been sent a press clipping from Jacky Clifford’s gold award presentation by the now retired RNLI Chairman, Charles Hunter-Pease. Whilst these events are often passed around within the local volunteer community it is great to see that the media recognised the amount of work that Jacky and her husband Chris have put into fundraising for the RNLI. 37 years is an incredible amount of time to be volunteering for an organisation and it is right that this is made known to the whole community.

Jacky Clifford gets her bar to the Gold Badge

18th July 2016
Honour for dedicated Erdington RNLI volunteer
A Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) volunteers from Erdington was among more than 40 dedicated supporters of the lifesaving charity honoured at its regional awards ceremony at Stanbrook Abbey, Worcester on Wednesday 22 June.
The awards were presented by RNLI Chairman Charles Hunter-Pease, who praised the dedication and commitment of the charity’s volunteers.
The ceremony was a proud occasion for Mrs Jacky Clifford of the Erdington RNLI branch, who was awarded a Gold Bar to her Gold Badge.
Jacky Clifford has been a volunteer for 37 years and has been Chairman for 23 years. Her knowledge of, and dedication to, the RNLI is second to none. Jacky has managed the RNLI Stand at the Birmingham Boat Show for the last 16 years- this often involves standing 9am-7pm for 9 days straight and she takes time off from her job to do so. Jacky has abseiled, caved, walked, danced on stage, cooked, baked, talked on TV, organised trips to stations including her beloved Exmouth and stood for 100’s of hours with a bucket in all weathers. Jacky has a saying ‘ there is no bigger heart than that of a volunteer’ and that sums Jacky up completely.
Jacky stated she is very proud and privileged to have received this award from the RNLI.
Adele Fuller, RNLI Area Manager for West Midlands says:
‘The ceremony gave us the opportunity to celebrate the tireless work that goes on in our stations and fundraising groups – often quietly, often behind the scenes, always without fuss or fanfare. The annual awards ceremony was our opportunity to make that fuss and say a heartfelt thank you to RNLI volunteers who have given years of dedication.
‘Volunteers like Jacky Clifford are the driving force behind all of the RNLI’s lifesaving work. Our lifeboat crews, lifeguards and flood rescue teams can save lives because we have the unwavering support of our fundraisers. ‘
