Hazel Oak School, Shirley

On Friday 18 July Hazel Oak School was revisited after a successful visit to their garden party. During their awards assembly a cheque was presented for £187.89 together with an envelope of thank you letters from the children.

Kevin Cleaver the RNLI education volunteer attending said, ” It was a great effort from the children and parents. On the day of the garden party a cake sale raised just under half of the money and a collection by the children bolstered the final figure. Seeing some of the awards that the children were getting was great as was the film that the senior classes produced which had been shown to parents the night before at the Electric Cinema in Birmingham. A great effort.”

Lifesaving with a promise

The 1st 256th Hazelwell Cubs and Beavers met the RNLI for a second time on Friday 16 may 2014 to hand over a cheque for £100 and renew their Scouting promise.

Have a look at my original blog post about it HERE

Thanks to everyone at the group for their help in raising this great donation.

Catching up – Presentation for fundraising activities

Emily Jarvis receives her certificate from Councillor Paul Tilsley

Back in July 2013 at the annual Sheldon Country Fair where the Branch always have a presence it was my pleasure to photograph 11 year old Emily Jarvis receiving a certificate of thanks from the RNLI for her fundraising activities. Making the presentation was Councillor Paul Tilsley.

Emily often attends Branch events and engages with young people to tell them about the RNLI and also about the publicity D class if it is at the event.

Congratulations Emily
